Domestic supply of human resources to in NE to be 163.89 lakh

"The total domestic supply of human resources for the next 10-years in the North Eastern states is estimated to be 163.89 lakh as against a total demand of only 24.26 lakh," an NDSC official told PTI at the sideline of a CII sponsored NE career and skills expo here.

The official quoted a report of an independent consultant of the NSDC which conducted study in all seven North Eastern states and Sikkim while maintaining that the NSDC along with the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development (HRD) are gearing to plug the identified gaps.

According to the report compiled by the ICRA Management Consulting Services Limited (IMaCS), Assam topped the table with a domestic supply of 92.55 lakhs by 2021.

Being the biggest state in the North East, Assam is projected to absorb only about 12.34 lakh human resources.

Tripura closely followed Assam by having a projected human resources of about 33.05 lakh of which the state can absorb only 3.05 lakh.

In Meghalaya, the NSDC projected total domestic supply of human resources for the next 10-years in Meghalaya is estimated to be 6.51 lakh as against the total demand of 2.49 lakh. More
