"I don't agree with this Modi wave, where will you find this wave in South India or in North-eastern India or in our Bengal. In the present political situation both the Congress and BJP will become irrelevant," said Roy in an interview to a Bengali news channel.
"We are against both corruption, communalism and regional bias. The Trinamool will play a pivotal role in national politics after Lok Sabha and will make its presence felt," said Roy
"Presently there is an imbalance as regional parties are ruling most of the states. And on the issue getting the magic figure, it can only be discussed after watching the post-poll scenario," said Roy.
Roy said Trinamool would perform very well in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, even if it fight the polls alone, evading a direct answer whether Trinamool would enter into any alliance with Congress before polls.
When inquired about his usage of the word "if we fight alone", Roy said," Right now we are alone in Bengal. But in politics you can't rule out anything in future."
Roy also said till now there have been no discussions with any party on the issue of alliance.
