In a statement released here, the NCPCR said that the lawyer who was representing the "child victim" had released the video to the press earlier. The father of the child is in custody for allegedly molesting her.

The Child Rights body said that as per the Norms of Journalistic Conduct 2005 of the Press Council, media should refrain from publishing or airing clipping of child abuse and invade the privacy of the child.

In its statement NCPCR also said that the Juvenile Justice Act and other rules also laid down that the identity and privacy of child victims is protected.
