Don't be racist: Sufjan Stevens after Beyonce's Grammy snub

Sufjan Stevens has called out Grammys for racism as the singer feels that the ceremony has failed to recognize Beyonce's artistic accomplishment.
A day after Beyonce claimed the trophy for best urban contemporary album but lost to British star Adele for album, record, and song of the year, Stevens penned down a Grammy critique on his Tumblr blog.
Sharing his thoughts in the form of a Q&A, the singer-songwriter wrote, "What is Urban Contemporary?"
To which he answered, "It's where the white man puts the (incomparable) pregnant black woman because he is so threatened by her talent, power, persuasion and potential."

Stevens also added, "Friendly reminder: don't be racist."
Though he did not mention the Grammys by name, the show has been criticized over the years for overlooking black artists.

In the past 20 years, only two black artists have so far won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
However, Adele, who emerged as a big winner at the 59th annual Grammys, broke her Album of the Year trophy in half on stage after she declared that it truly belongs to Beyonce.
While accepting the honour, the 28-year-old star also paid tribute to Beyonce, 35, whose album 'Lemonade' was also nominated in the same category, saying the latter was a more deserving winner than her.
