Don't let anti-social elements create insecurity in J&K: Guv to police

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik Wednesday emphasised on the need to maintain public order and not allow anti-social elements to create insecurity in the society.

Malik was interacting with J-K's Director General of Police Dilbag Singh who called on him at the Raj Bhavan here and briefed him about important matters relating to the security and law and order management, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.

The official said that the DGP briefed the Governor about various welfare schemes of the state police instituted for its personnel, while Malik lauded them for successfully carrying out anti-terror operations.

"The Governor emphasised on the vital importance of public order being maintained and not to allow any anti social element, at any cost to create insecurity in the society," the spokesperson said.

Senior BJP leader and MP Shamsher Singh Manhas too met Malik at the Raj Bhavan and apprised him about the status of the Central government's developmental schemes in his area.

He also informed the Governor about the hardships being faced by the residents of the border areas in Jammu region due to cross border firing.

Malik assured Manhas that the administration was taking every possible measure to mitigate the sufferings of the people living along the border areas, the spokesman said.
