The "Django Unchained" star has only received one Academy Award nomination in his long career - for a supporting role in 1994's "Pulp Fiction" - but he does not feel he needs a gold statue to validate his work, reported Showbizspy.

"I've had a pretty good career. I don't think it will validate my stature in Hollywood one way or another. I've done some pretty interesting things, and it's been a long and rich career," he said.

The 64-year-old was crowned the highest grossing actor of all time in 2011 - based partly on the success of franchises in which he has appeared, such as "Star Wars" and "The Avengers".

"Winning an Oscar is definitely not going to help my box-office record."
