Bachchan was invited as a special guest for the 'Green Heroes Film Festival'.
"Our big problem towards the environment is everybody looks at themselves as an individual. As an individual, in this vast sea of humanity, we feel we're insignificant. I think today after watching these films, you'll realise how significant that one person is," Bachchan told reporters.
"I will offer help in whatever capacity I can. But you must carry on, you shouldn't stop. Believe in our initiatives, care for our environment and believe in the future. If we have more people like you, the future will be bright."
As part of the initiative, emerging filmmakers were trained to create movies of less than five minutes documenting the good work. Out of the 22 short films, 10 were screened today.
'Paanch Pattiyon Ka Mantra' by Samaj Pragati Sahyog bagged the best film award.
Consul General Thomas Vajda said the presence of Bollywood stars like Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, who was previosuly associated with them, help drive the message to grassroot levels and encourage people to do their bit.
