"The government must avoid taking unilateral decisions without taking the trading community into confidence," the Congress spokesman said.

Don't think they are "thieves" talk to them and listen to them, the Ludhiana MP said.

Supporting demands of the traders who are opposing the hike in the electricity tariff and other "anti trade" policies of the government, Tewari said, "the BJP-SAD coalition government had turned blind eye to all the public interest."

This government was now trying to rob the trading community by imposing tough conditions, the Congress leader claimed.

If the government really needed to do something about finances and rationalising of taxes, it should better have taken the traders into confidence, he said.

"Don't take traders to be thieves they are partners in growth and development," he said.

Even the traders will not be averse to anything that goes for the welfare of the state.
