A 36-year-old man has been jailed for the rest of his life for killing the father of an eye witness, who had seen him murdering a students' union president of a Delhi University college in 1999, by a court here which termed it as a "rare" case.
Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau sentenced Jitender, alias Kalle who is already undergoing 30 years jail term, to rigorous imprisonment for life and made it clear that he will remain in prison rest of his life and this punishment will start after conclusion of his earlier sentence.
The court had earlier this month awarded life term to Kalle for murdering Anil Badana, the then president of Satyawati College students' union, and said he his punishment would not be considered for any remission till he spends 30 years in jail.
The present case relates to murder of Kimti Lal Nayyar, father of Sumit Nayyar who was an eye witness to the murder of Anil Badana and had informed the police about Badana's killing.
According to the police, Kalle first shot dead Badana at a marriage function under Keshav Puram police station on March 10, 1999. He had also injured bridegroom's father Madan Lal Sharma while opening fire indiscriminately as those attending function tried to nab him, it said.
Kalle went to Sumit's home in Mukherjee Nagar to kill him but when he realised Sumit had not reached there, the convict shot his father to scare him away from maintaining his stand before the police.
Kalle had pumped three bullets in Nayyar's chest just after one and half hour of Badana's murder. Nayyar died on the spot.
The court said Nayyar's murder was committed by Kalle in "cold blood without any instigation or provocation by the innocent and helpless senior citizen".
