Two men were arrested on early Tuesday in connection with a sensational double murder case in Greater Noida, following an encounter with police, officials said.
The accused had allegedly killed two men and then dumped their bodies on a service road near the Depot Metro station on September 3, they said.
Yogesh alias Bachchi Singh and Sukhmeet Singh, both residents of Dadri, have at least 15 criminal cases, including those of murder and robbery, registered against them at various police stations, a senior official said.
"The duo was held by a team from the Surajpur police station after an encounter near the Metro Depot roundabout. The two were injured in retaliatory firing from the police and have been admitted to a hospital," Gautam Buddh Nagar Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna said.
Two firearms, along with ammunition, were seized from their possession while their car was impounded, Krishna said, adding that one more accused in the case is absconding.
Bodies of Rahul and Kuldeep Nagar were found with bullet injuries on the service road.

"One of the accused, Yogesh, arrested today believed that Rahul had tipped the police off about his involvement in a robbery at a showroom in Greater Noida because of which he was arrested and sent to jail four months ago," Krishna told reporters.
"Yogesh had planned the wedding of his sister earlier this year but it could not be done because he was arrested and jailed. These are the reasons because of which he targeted Rahul, he said.
"The other accused, Sukhmeet, had a grudge against the other deceased, Sukhmeet, whom he suspected was behind the killing of his cousin," he said.
A fresh case against them was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act at the Surajpur police station, the police said.
