A conservancy worker, who was a member of the team that had exhumed five skeletons from poultry farm and house of Santosh Pol, dubbed as Dr Death, died of heart attack at Wai in Satara district, authorities said today.
Subhash Chakke (45) was a 'river watchman' with Wai municipal council and was also working as a conservancy staff.
He had helped the police in exhuming five skeletons from Pol's poultry farm and house at Dhom near Wai town last week.
"After exhuming bodies last week, he was not feeling well and was taken to the hospital by the family after he suffered cardiac arrest in his office yesterday. He was declared brought dead there," Chief Officer, Municipal Council, Wai, Asha Raut said.
Police have so far exhumed six skeletons from near the house and poultry farm of Pol (42) in Dhom village, 13 kms from Satara.
Pol had confessed to killing six people, including five women, between 2003 and 2016, according to police.
Remains of the first victim Surekha Chikane, whom Pol had allegedly killed in 2003, were disinterred from the same place earlier. Other four skeletons were found buried in his poultry farm, 3 kms from his house.
Pol, who claims to have a BAMS degree in electropathy, was arrested on August 11 for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a woman anganwadi worker Mangala Jedhe.
