Dr Sharma is presently the Assistant Director General (Education Planning and Development) of Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of SKUAST, has awarded Sharma the posting for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, an official spokesman said here.
Sharma, an authority on soil and water management, has served in the National Farm Universities at senior posts such as Chief Scientist (Water Management), Dean (Post Graduate Studies), Dean (Home Sciences), Dean (College of Agriculture) and as Vice-Chancellor of the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.
While clearing the appointment, the governor expressed hope that Sharma will give a strong push to research and academic work at the university.
Vohra also thanked Prof DK Arora, the outgoing Vice- Chancellor, for his valued contribution and service to the university.
