This was stated by Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh during a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at New Delhi yesterday, sources said.

The master plan was prepared following the acceptance of the site by the state government for construction of the airport in view of its technical suitability and operational safety.

It was noted that the terrain at new Holongi site permits operations on runway from both directions as compared to Banderdewa site which permits unidirectional operation. In this regard, AAI has forwarded requirement for acquisition of 320 hectare of land to the state government.

Tuki and Singh during the meeting discussed the status of development of airports at Itanagar, Aalo, Daporijo, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziro in the state, sources said.

Regarding the development of a civil enclave at aerodrome in Aalo, Tuki was informed that the AAI had sent a report in July to the state government for removal and curtailment of obstacles around the aerodrome for safe flight operations.

The authority has also submitted the master plan to the state government and Indian Air Force (IAF), which has been mandated for the development of the aerodrome, sources informed. (MORE)
