"We consider the Dragon dance as the one to usher in good fortune. As Kolkatans we pray for the fortune of this city as well as our homeland which is culturally much similar to my second place of birth," Li Yun of Tangra told PTI as the mythological characters from history iserenaded to the accompaniment of Chinese drums.
"This new year is the year of goat-'san-yang-kai-tai' which translates into 'three goats herald fortune', an organizer said pointing to the decorative knickknacks and motifs that bounce from millennia of wisdom, legend and mythology.
Non-indigenised delicacies like Steamed Cottage Cheese Dumplings with Celery, Five Spice Flavored Bamboo Rice - mixing the flavor from Hubei to Yunan, from Guangdong to Sichuan - were served on a platter.
