Flanked by the drum-beating supporters, Mishra said he wanted to meet the chief minister at his residence, where he was holding a 'janta darbar' (public meeting), and raise the "corruption" charges against him and his cabinet colleague Satyendar Jain.
The former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and his supporters were stopped by the police when they tried to climb over the police barricade. Irked at being prevented from entering Kejriwal's residence at Civil Lines, they raised slogans against the chief minister and staged a sit-in there.
"I will come here again with more people. Today we had crossed the barricades, the next time, we will uproot them. Kejriwal has forgotten the power of the people."
Reacting to this, Delhi Labour Minister and AAP's city unit convenor Gopal Rai said, "Mishra has nothing else to do."
The party had earlier took a jibe at the sacked minister by describing his allegations as a "Kapil Mishra Show", in a reference to a popular comedy show on television.
The sacked AAP leader also had a plan to present a copy of 'Swaraj', a book authored by Kejriwal during his activist days on how to decentralise governance, to the chief minister.
"We had come here with a demand for a special session of the Assembly at the Ram Lila Maidan to discuss the corruption charges against Kejriwal and Jain, but were not allowed to proceed," said the former Delhi water minister.
Claiming that Kejriwal and Jain had no "moral right" to continue in office, he sought their resignation.
Koli, who was named as the AAP candidate from Seemapuri in the 2013 Delhi Assembly polls, was killed in a road accident in June of that year. The party had described her as a "martyr" who had taken on the ration mafia in the national capital.
