The selection process for football talent hunt 'Dream Chasers', to be conducted across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Delhi, Assam and Bengal, is to commence here on April 16.
The programme, launched by sports promotion firm 'Proforce', is being mentored by India captain Sunil Chhetri. It aims to pick young talent and train them for a period of five years in association with one of Europe's top clubs, Sporting Clube de Portugal (SCP).
The first round of selection trials would be conducted in Maharashtra till May 15 before the scene shifts to neighbouring Gujarat, according to a media release.
After the conclusion of the second round in July-end, trials would be held in August in Kerala followed by Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati, the release said.
At the end of the entire programme, 15 boys - in the 8-14 age group - would be picked for the five-year residential course in Kolhapur where, besides football training, their education as well as lodging and boarding would also be looked after.
The programme would include 10 months of football training in Kolhapur and one month of free training every year at SCP, the release added.
