The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Thursday three people with 10 kg drugs reportedly worth Rs 100 crore, officials said.
The seized contraband was fentanyl, a synthetic opioid with pain-relieving and anaesthetic properties. It is classified as a drug under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The drug was seized from several places in the city, the DRI sources said, adding it was the first time such a huge quantity of Fentanyl had been recovered here.
They said the gang involved in the smuggling might be having links in Europe and America and one member is suspected to be a resident of Mexico.
A factory situated in the Polo Ground area of the city is under surveillance in this connection, they added.
The sources refused to divulge the names of the three arrested as investigation is still on.
