Foreign brand cigarettes worth Rs 7.5 crore, which were allegedly smuggled into the country, have been seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
The Delhi Zonal Unit of the DRI today seized 53.80 lakh cigarette sticks, concealed in High-density Polyethylene (HDPE) granules bags, from Inland Container Depot, Tughlakabad.
"The seized cigarettes were of various popular brands Viz, Gudang Garam, Djarum Black, ESSE Lights and Dunhill. Market value of the total seized goods including 3300 bags of HDPE granules is around Rs 7.5 crore," a press release issued by DRI said.
