Drinking water project inaugurated for 8 villages in Ramgarh

The Bokaro River Drinking Water Project based on rainwater harvesting in Ramgarh was inaugurated today at West Bokaro under Mandu block of Ramgarh district.
The project was dedicated to the community by Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha in presence of state authorities in the district.
The project was built by the Tata steel under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for rural areas of the district at an estimated cost of Rs 4.19 crore.
Inaugurating the project, Sinha said "The people of Jharkhand have suffered due to scarcity of water in the state. I feel proud that we have come up with such a sustainable way for supplying water in the region as rainwater harvesting is need of the time when water level is rapidly coming down."

The project would cater to over 8,000 people in eight villages in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand, which are Jharnabasti, Jongragora, Latungri, Parsabera Ravidastola, Duni, Mukundbera and Choratand.
A check dam has been constructed along with an intake well that was located by the side of the Bokaro River.

This initiative has also enabled the supply of perennial water problem during summer when the river is almost dry.
The project is capable of supplying approximately 1,000 kilo litres of water per day, which would adequately meet the drinking water requirement of these villages.
Speaking on the occasion Sunil Bhaskaran, vice president, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, said "I know Sinha has very long term plan for the region of Ramgarh and Hazaribagh. I believe this region will set a benchmark for rest of Jharkhand. Tata Steel has been working for the development of the community around West Bokaro.
