The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) has been awarded for implementing e-office in departments under it, the ministry said in a statement today.

A certificate of appreciation was handed over to the ministry by Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, yesterday.

It was received by Satyabrata Sahu, Joint Secretary and Seemantinee Sengupta, Senior Technical Director, HOD, NIC-MDWS, on behalf of the ministry at a function held at the Ministry of Personnel, Grievances and Pension.

E-office is one of the projects under Digital India programme which allows 'paperless' working.

"The ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has the distinction of making 100 per cent use of e-office. In the ministry, the entire e-office suite was implemented in the first week of December, 2014 and since then it is being used by all stakeholders in the ministry," the statement said.

It also said all files in the ministry are e-files which are being successfully handled though this system for over three years, when the transition to electronic mode first took place.
