The company, through its Australian entity Drinksrus Pty Ltd, would import Macedonian wines to India initially in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh markets, DrinksRus Beverages Chief Executive Babu Srinivasan said.
"There has been a 10 per cent increase in the consumption of wines, particularly in metros. We wanted to bring in rare wines like Macedonian wines which are several centuries old. Globally, this Vranec range of grape used to make these kind of wines are available only in Macedonia," he told PTI.
The company would gradually expand the sales of imported wine in major cities and towns by 2015, he said.
"We are also authorised distributors for Macedonian range of wines in the South East market," he said, adding that the company would launch the Macedonian wines in such regions.
Besides retailing these wines, the company also planned to offer "Rakija" a spirit similar to vodka and also "vitamin water" that does not have any artificial flavours or preservatives in the domestic market soon.
