Driver arrested for decamping with Rs 40L worth goods

A cargo truck driver and his associate were arrested for allegedly decamping with goods worth Rs 40 lakh, police said today.
A complaint was lodged by a representative of a Sahibabad-based last mile logistics aggregator, Mukesh Kumar, at Vasant Kunj (south) police station on November 7, they said.
He told the police that 160 cartons containing valuables like mobile phones worth Rs 40 lakh, belonging to a client of the company were missing, the police said.
According to the complaint, third party vendor's driver Sanjay Kumar had loaded the cargo from the Indira Gandhi International Airport airport to deliver it at a warehouse in Samalkha near Kapashera, they said.
But Sanjay did not turn up and his phone was switched off, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ishwar Singh said.
A case was registered and investigation was taken up by the police during which dozens of employees of the third party transporter with whom Sanjay worked were questioned, he said.

Finally, a team of the police managed to nab him from Pochanpur village. His associate Hukum Dev was also arrested, the DCP said.
During interrogation, they revealed that the truck, loaded with goods, was taken to Pochanpur area by Sanjay and his associates Hukum Dev and Roshan at a rented room, he said.
The stolen cartons were seized and efforts were on arrest the other associate of the accused.
