Eleven others were also arrested for attacking a police team, vandalism and arson, officials of the Barrackpore Police Commissionrate said.
Truck driver Parimal Biswas, who was absconding since the accident yesterday, was arrested from Basirhat, while the others were picked up from Mathpukur.
When produced before a Barrackpore court, the driver was remanded to three days' police custody. The 11 others were remanded to judicial custody by the same court.
