As part of its Corporate Social Responsbility, the local chapter of CII has sponsored four-wheeler driving training for the children of conservancy workers of the city corporation.
Handing over the driving licences to 17 beneficiaries, city Police Commissioner, A K Viswanathan said this programme was an opportunity for unemployed persons to find jobs. The long term objective of this programme was to train 100 unemployed youth, he said.
K Ilango, Chairman of CII, Coimbatore Zone, said the organisation was not just focussed on promoting trade and industry but also in social activities under the corporate social responsibility.
S K Sundararaman, past Chairman of local CII, said unemployment was not the real problem as industry was growing at a rapid rate. The real issue was employability as there was a shortage of skilled workers required by the industries.
CII was ready to help unemployed youth get vocational training, he said.
