"There is definitely a grievous situation and people are facing problems due to shortage of water and fodder. Our organisation needs to be with people in this painful hour," MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre said after an urgent meeting of party office-bearers and district representatives to discuss the situation.

The block offices of Congress party will constitute scarcity relief help centres, district offices the coordination centers and regional office a control room dedicated for the purpose.

Over twelve districts in the state are reeling under drought.

Thakre said the entire set-up will be monitored and governed by the flagship programmes execution committee headed by Vinayak Deshmukh.

"The Jansevaks working for the flagship programmes shall dedicate themselves for relief work. It is expected that this set-up will act as a catalyst in expediting government help to the needy and will provide a helping hand to the affected people," he added.

The MPCC chief appealed to the drought-affected people to contact the block office and MPCC control room. PTI MR NSK
