A 29-year-old drug addict was arrested for allegedly killing a man who had foiled his robbery bid last month, police said Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Mohammad Rehman, a resident of Bara Hindu Rao locality, they said.
On March 9, some passersby found Mohammad Sameer lying with multiple stab injuries on the Rani Jhansi Road and they immediately informed police, said DCP (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa.
Sameer was rushed to the Lady Harding Hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors.
Based on a tip-off that Rehman could have been involved in the incident, police questioned him, the DCP said.
Rehman told police that he killed Sameer to take revenge as the latter had foiled his robbery bid last month, Randhawa said.
The accused said he was a drug addict and to fulfil his needs, he used to commit crime in the locality.
Police said a knife was seized from Rehman's possession.
