Drug-and-loot gang busted in Haryana

With the arrest of one person, Haryana police today claimed to have busted an alleged drug-and-loot gang operating on various state highways, official said.
One of the gang member was arrested today from Delhi- Haryana border in connection with loot and murder case of a man, police said.
"On April 12, police received information of an unidentified body lying near the Devdu bypass in Sonepat and later identified the deceased as Ram Lal, a resident of Chalal, district Mandi, Himachal Pradesh," a Haryana Police Department spokesman said.
The accused, identified as Harikesh, was traced and later arrested from Delhi border today, police said.
Harikesh confessed that he, along with his associates, had offered lift to the deceased on GT Road between Karnal and Delhi and gave sedative-laced beverage, police said.
Later, they took his wallet, ring and mobile phone, and crushed him under their car, police said.

The spokesman said the police had taken the accused on remand for seven days after producing him before a court.
"During the interrogation, the accused admitted that almost three months ago, the gang had committed similar crimes at Kotputli border on Delhi-Jaipur highway, Mathura highway, Noida highway, Ghaziabad highway and Lalkuan-Delhi highway," he said.
The police is on the look out for other persons involved in these incidents and would be arrested soon, he said.
