Police today refuted the allegations levelled by drug racket kingpin Jagdish Singh Bhola that Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia was involved in the racket and said the accused was adopting "diversionary tactics" to derail the probe.
"He (Bhola) is adopting diversionary tactics as police have cracked the case," SSP, Patiala, H S Mann, who is heading the probe, told reporters here.
Mann also denied any political interference in the probe.
Rejecting demands for a CBI probe by Bhola and political parties, he said he was confident about the hard work being put in by his team and assured that he would take the case to its logical end.
Many central agencies, including Narcotics Control Bureau, Army intelligence, Central Intelligence Bureau, Border Security Force, Enforcement Directorate and Punjab police intelligence wing were jointly investigating the case, he said.
On the allegations that police had taken about Rs 25 crore from Bhola for hushing up the case, Mann dismissed it saying, "Bhola has been trying to shift the focus of the investigation from day 1 and this is just another attempt to divert attention from the main culprits.
"We have collected sufficient information against all drug smugglers, around 40 in number, including Bhola and many international smugglers, and we will ensure that all the guilty are nailed," he said.
