Drug overdose appears to be the cause of the mysterious death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Union Minister Shashi Tharoor, according to the findings of doctors of AIIMS who conducted the autopsy on her.
Taking the investigations into her death further, the Delhi Police today scanned the video footage of Leela Palace hotel to check Sunanda Pushkar's movements which showed that she never came out of her room no 345 after January 16.
The CCTV footage of the corridor of the floor of her suite shows she was last seen in the hotel lobby on January 16 when she had come to attend a phone call.
But after January 16, she never came out of her room, police sources said.
With the doctors at AIIMS submitting their report of their findings this evening to Alok Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate, who is holding the inquest proceedings under the provisions of the Cr Procedural Code, the case has entered a crucial stage.
The South district police today met experts of Central Forensic Science Laboratory, (CBI) and discussed the toxicological analysis and a complete visco-pathological examination.
Delhi Police also accessed Twitter's account of Pushkar and checked her tweets as well as her comments.
The presence of alcohol in Sunanda's blood has also been ruled out in the post-mortem report which has recorded over a dozen injury marks on her face and her hands, the sources said ruling out the injuries being a cause of the fatality.
