Drug peddler, gamblers held in Kashmir

A suspected drug peddler and five alleged gamblers were today arrested in two separate incidents in Anantnag and Srinagar districts of Kashmir Valley, police said.
Shabir Ahmad Shah, a resident of Devsar village of Kulgam, was arrested along with 250 gm charas during a checking at Akoora Crossing in Anantnag district, a police spokesman said.
A case under NDPS Act was registered against Shah, he said.
In another case, five gamblers were arrested from a public place in Soura locality on the outskirts of Srinagar, the spokesman said.
Some money and playing cards were recovered from the site, he said, adding that they were booked under Section 13 of the Gambling Act.
