"We have made record seizure of drugs, liquor and cash worth Rs 80 crore," Punjab Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) V K Bhawra said here today.
This time, a record 1,412 FIR's were registered under Excise Act and 155 cases were referred to the Income Tax Department, he said.
Of the total seizure, Rs 54.10 crore was in cash, liquor worth Rs 8.58 crore, drugs worth Rs 17.52 crore, gold valued at Rs 16 crore were seized at different nakas, the official said, adding pharmaceutical drugs worth Rs 48 lakh was seized in Hoshiarpur.
"The heavy seizure of cash, drugs was possible because of intensive search undertaken by the police three months before the election code of conduct came into force," he said.

Meanwhile, Rs 18.48 lakh in new high value currency notes was today seized from a vehicle at Guruharsahai in Ferozepur, an official spokesperson of the state election office said.
Bhawra said 96 per cent of licensed weapons have been deposited ahead of tomorrow's polling, while 416 illegal arms have been seized.
Decision about police personnel postings at polling stations was taken through randomization done by software, he said, adding, "It was also kept in mind that police personnel should not be posted where he has vote."
Officials said all DC's and SSP's are on their toes to check the incidents of distribution of liquor, narcotics and money to lure the voters and raids would be conducted immediately on receiving information or complaints.
