Drugs worth Rs 4.5 cr destroyed

Seized contraband drugs worth Rs 4.5 crore were destroyed on the outskirts of Imphal town, a senior police official said today.
The contraband was set ablaze at Kiyagmei Pal area yesterday under the supervision of DIG (Range IV of police department) Kh Chandramani, who headed the committee set up to seize the drugs.
Chandramani said the disposed drugs included 44 Kgs of ephedrine, 47,852 strips of Actiman tablets and other narcotic drugs.
Their seizure had been registered under 17 separate police stations in Imphal East and West districts, Chandramani said.
Narcotic and Border Affairs department said the drive to seize narcotic drugs would be intensified as thousands of youths in the state were turning addicts.
