A 29-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly beating his wife to death in an inebriated condition in Odisha's Jajpur district, police said.
Bibhuti Munda of Ghagia village came home drunk on Tuesday night, picked up a quarrel with Sabitri, his wife of five years, and beat her up with a stick killing her on the spot.
Neighbours found Sabitri lying dead on the floor of the house on Wednesday morning, beat up her husband and informed the police.
Both Bibhuti and 25-year-old Sabitri used to work as daily labourers but the husband had the tendency to spend all his income on liquor and torture his wife, police said.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
