Dry weather in north, mercury hovers around normal

Mercury hovered around the normal level in most parts of north India today as weather remained dry in the region.
It was a bright and sunny day in the national capital, with the day temperature settling slightly above the normal level.
According to the MeT Department, the maximum temperature settled at 35.7 degrees Celsius, which was one notch above the normal. The minimum was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, normal for this part of the season.
Humidity levels were recorded between 33 and 81 per cent during the day.
In the desert state of Rajasthan, dry weather conditions continued. Churu was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperatures ranged between 32.6 and 36.5 degrees Celsius at many places including Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Pilani, Kota, Chittorgarh, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Gangangar.

Meanwhile, maximum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana continued to hover around normal limits. The mercury hovered between one degree Celsius above normal and one notch below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.
Hisar continued to remain the hottest place in the region with a high of 37.1 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal. While Bhiwani settled at a high of 36.7 degrees, maximum at Narnaul and Patiala was an identical 34 degrees Celsius.
Among other places in the region, Chandigarh had a high of 33.8 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, followed by 33.4 degrees Celsius each at Amritsar and Ludhiana. The maximum at Amritsar was one notch below normal.
