The delegation, led by SAD Secretary General Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, brought to the notice of Director, Gurdwara Elections that the Delhi Police was directly interfering to demoralise the leaders and workers of the party.
They alleged that discriminatory attitude was adopted by the Delhi administration while removing hoardings and posters, as those of Sarna candidates were not removed in the run up to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections slated on January 27.
Apprehensions were also raised over attempts of booth capturing and rigging of votes in the sensitive wards by Sarna group. The delegation also demanded appointment of independent observers in all wards besides videography of the entire polling to prevent any mischief.
Shiromani Akali Dal also expressed concern over the safety and security of ballot boxes during the three-day gap between the polling and counting of votes, with Akali leaders fearing that Sarnas in connivance with ruling Congress party would try their best to tamper the ballot boxes.
The delegation comprised of SAD general secretary Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Secretary Daljit Singh Cheema, its Delhi unit President Manjit Singh GK, General Secretaries Avtar Singh Hit and Prem Singh Chandumajra and organising secretary Kuldeep Singh Bhogal.
