The flats are being constructed as per government's plan to make Delhi a slum-free city.

The Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has already constructed 14,000 flats which are being distributed among the economically weaker section.

"We have set a target of constructing 30,000 low-cost flats in Delhi," Delhi Industries Minister Harun Yusuf told reporters at the India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan. He was speaking on the occasion of 'Delhi Day' celebration today at the fair.

Yusuf said the government was striving hard to make Delhi a hub for IT and IT-enabled services.

"The endeavour of the government is to promote non-polluting, knowledge based, high-technology and skilled industries," he said.

The Minister said DSIIDC was in the process of setting up a knowledge based industrial park for IT and knowledge-based industries over an area of 77 acres at Baprola. A total of Rs 1800 crore would be invested in the park.

He said DSIIDC was planning to set up a manufacturing hub in Ranikhera on an area of about 150 acres.
