Delhi Transport Corporation today launched a week-long drive to curb revenue leakage through ticketless traveling and ensure women's safety in its buses.
As part of the drive, 1,180 buses were checked and 97 passengers, including 12 police personnel, paramilitary staff and government staff, were found traveling without ticket.
"The main thrust of the drive is to check ticketless traveling by commuters besides women's safety-related issues and compliance of permit conditions," a senior DTC official said.
"Ticketless traveling by home guards, police personnel, and employees of government departments are also on our radar," he said.
The behaviour of bus crew towards commuters, non-issue of ticket by conductors after collecting fair, rash and negligent driving of bus, non stoppage of bus at proper bus stop, crew uniform, display of helpline numbers in bus, display of photo ID Card of the driver in the bus, among others, will also be checked, he said.
The irregularities noticed by the checking officials will be reported to their nodal officers and depot managers for taking stern disciplinary action against the errant staff, the official said.
The corporation has deployed its officers and traffic supervisors at 144 points from 8 AM to 10 AM and from 5 PM to 7 PM for the purpose.
Besides, all depot authorities have been directed to deploy additional teams for checking from 7 AM to 2:30 PM and from 2 PM to 9:30 PM.
