The NCR bus service of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has resumed after being suspended due to the violence in Haryana triggerred by the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim, an official of the public transporter said.
The Delhi-Lahore bus service, which too had been suspended as it passes through Haryana and Punjab, is likely to resume soon after getting security clearance from Delhi Police, said the official.
"The NCR service connecting Delhi to cities in Haryana and UP has been resumed as situation has normalised. The Delhi-Lahore bus service too will be resumed soon subject to police clearance.
"This service was to resume from tomorrow but the police clearance was not received so it had to be cancelled," said Sanjay Saxena, the DTC's Public Relations Officer.
Delhi-Lahore and NCR services were suspended on Friday due to the violence that erupted after the Dera head was convicted in the rape case by a special CBI court in Panchkula(Haryana).
The Delhi-Lahore buses pass entirely through Haryana and Punjab during their 12-hour journey between the two cities.
The official said that the NCR service that connects Delhi to NCR satellite cities like Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Noida and Ghaziabad were also suspended fearing violence and loss of public property. It has now resumed in view of restoration of peace.
The night bus service was also suspended for one day after DTC buses were torched by miscreants in Delhi. It resumed on Saturday.
