Police investigating the murder of DU student Arzoo Singh Chauhan are likely to question the wife of the main accused Naveen Khatri, whom he had married two days after allegedly carrying out the killing.
"Khatri's wife, Alka, has emerged as an independent witness in the case in connection with which we have so far questioned dozens of relatives, including Naveen's father, uncle and cousins," a senior police official said today.
Meanwhile, a police team is looking for a labourer who is suspected to have helped Khatri dump Arzoo's body. Police have also questioned Khatri's father, Rajkumar, who had disappeared by the time the incident came to light and returned on Monday night, the official said.
Chauhan (21), a student of Delhi University's Lakshmibai College, was allegedly strangulated to death by Khatri (23), her lover. Police said the accused hid the body for five days and married another woman during the period.
The incident came to light on Sunday when Arzoo's body was found in a ventilation shaft in Khatri's residence in Gurmandi locality of Model Town.
