The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) staged a demonstration outside the vice- chancellor's office today, raising several demands including the formation of governing bodies in 28 colleges funded by the Delhi government.
"More than a year has passed and the 28 DU colleges aided/maintained by the Delhi government await formation of Governing Bodies. DUTA appeals to the Delhi government and varsity to end this stand-off and quickly resolve the issue," DUTA president Rajib Ray said in a statement.
The Delhi government had in July ordered a freeze on funding of 28 Delhi University colleges -- that are either fully or partially funded by it -- following the varsity's failure to appoint governing bodies.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia charged Delhi University (DU) with attempting to "stall" the formation of governing bodies in 28 colleges funded by it, hurting the interests of teachers and students.
They also demand immediate announcement of interview for ad-hoc teachers and release of pensions.
Regarding other demands, Ray said, "The teachers of Delhi University are facing a situation of zero promotions because of the retrospective implementation of API system and this causes serious demotivation."
The DUTA submitted a memorandum to the VC on this.
