Dubai ruler's Twitter page attracts 2 million followers

Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has become one of the most followed leaders in the Arab world after his page on social networking site Twitter attracted two million followers, including from India.
Sheikh Mohammed, who is also UAE's Vice President and Prime Minister, was among the first Arab leaders to show keen interest in communicating with different segments of the society via internet.
Besides the two million count, the Prime Minister's page also registers 90,000 fresh followers each month, the UAE's official news agency WAM reported.
The report said Mohammed's page enjoys wide following on social networking websites for his continuous keenness to communicate on many occasions in addition to his eagerness to express his opinion and comment on many of the regional and global issues.
Arabs account for the largest number of the followers of Mohammed's Twitter account, with 43 per cent of them coming from the UAE alone, and rest of followers from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, India, Japan and Egypt.
