Dubai city broke the Kuwait's record of display of 77,282 fireworks, smashing almost 80,000 shells per minute and 1,332 fireworks per second, The National newspaper reported.
Within the first 60 seconds, Dubai city fired enough shells to break the previous Guinness World Record.
Guinness World Records adjudicators physically counted all fireworks before and after the performance resulting in them confirming and verifying the achievement.
The show was spread over 95 kms of seafront with a team of more than 1,000 experts and 200 pyro-technicians from the UAE and abroad, the newspaper reported.
The display took ten months to plan and more than 5,000 man-hours to install and throughout the preparation and during the event, security and public safety were maintained.
