Dudhwa National Park opens for tourists

The famous Dudhwa National Park (DNP), situated at Indo-Nepal border, opened today with hundreds of tourists from across the country witnessing jungle safari.
Deputy director PP Singh said, "Dudhwa has got a warm response this season with all the huts and rest houses already booked till this month."
"Attempts will be made to ensure that the jungle safari meets the expectations of the tourists," he said.
"The park administration has completed its preparations for the fresh tourist season," Singh had told PTI.
"All the tourist corridors and roads inside the park have been maintained," he said.
He said that the tourists would not be allowed to visit the park on their personal vehicles.
"Instead, eco development committees operating in Dudhwa would provide jeeps to the tourists on prescribed rates," he said, adding that every tourist group will be provided with a guide during their visit.

On the inaugural day, the tourists enjoyed elephant ride in Salukapur base and rejoiced the free movements of rhinos in its natural habitat.
Sighting of various wild species including spotted deer, langoors, monkeys, various attractive birds added to the delight of the tourists.
Dudhwa park opnes on November 15 and concludes on June 15 every year.
Attracting tourists from across India and abroad, DTR has four forest rest houses in Dudhwa, Sathiana, Bankati and Kishanpur.
There are 14 Tharu huts in Dudhwa, four huts in Sathiana and a dormitory in Dudhwa. The visiting tourists may also seek accommodation in Pallia township which is just 10 km away from Dudhwa.
Starting with just five rhinos in 1984, the park today enjoys a population of 32 rhinos. The authorities have now finalised to develop another rhino area near Bhadi Tal.
The national park is famous for its rich flora and fauna.
