Dumka striping: women's panel seeks dismissal of hostel warden

The Jharkhand State Women's Commission today recommended dismissal of a hostel warden of Dumka Women's College in connection with the alleged stripping and assault of a girl student by four inmates of the girls' hostel.
A team of the Commission, headed by its president Kalyani Sharan, visited Dumka for inspection and held the warden responsible for the incident.
The warden did not take proper action and the Commission recommended her dismissal, Sharan told the media.
The girls did this 'shameful act' at the behest of their boyfriends whose access to the girls' hostel was unrestricted, Sharan said.
Four inmates of the girls' hostel allegedly brought the victim girl, a day scholar, to the hostel by some pretext a week ago and assaulted and stripped her charging her of stealing a mobile phone.
They allegedly brought their boyfriends to the hostel, took her photos in the nude, and made the footage viral, following which the incident came to light.

Prodded by Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, the police registered the version of the victim and arrested the four girls yesterday.
Meanwhile, the district administration paid Rs 50,000 to the victim as assistance, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar said.
He also said that all the culprits would be booked and stringent action would be taken against them.
