Processions for immersion of Durga idols choked several roads leading to Yamuna ghats in the city, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Hundreds of trucks and other vehicles carrying the idols for immersion lead to traffic jams on various routes.
Vehicular movement remained heavy on almost all roads leading to various Yamuna Ghats.
"I was stuck for around one hour due to heavy traffic of vehicles going to Kalindi Kunj Ghat for idol immersion," said a resident of South Delhi.
Traffic congestion was also seen in and around Red Fort ground, Parade ground, Dangal Maidan, Old Delhi railway station, both sides of Wazirabad Sur Ghat, Chhat Pooja Ghat, IP Estate, Eastern side of the Yamuna pushtas and thokars.
However, police said that although traffic remained heavy in areas where idol immersion took place, there were no massive traffic jams in the city.

"A large number of trucks, tempos and other vehicles reached Kudsia Ghat in North Delhi and Kalindi Kunj Ghat in South Delhi but things remained more or less in control," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.
Anticipating traffic rush due to idol immersion, the traffic police had restricted movement of general traffic on Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, New Darya Ganj Road, JLN Marg and Turkaman Gate.
All commercial vehicles, including goods vehicles, were diverted from Sarai Kale Khan on Nizamuddin Bridge and from Wazirabad towards Burari Chowk on Outer Ring Road from 11 a.M. onwards, police said.
