Chief Executive Officer of DUSIB, Amar Nath, said that the board has planned to provide sanitation facilities, upgrade existing toilets and build new toilets with modern technologies in the slum clusters.
"It is the mandate of DUSIB to rehabilitate slum (jhuggi- jhopri) dwellers and provide toilets facilities in jhuggi- jhopri (JJ) clusters," Nath said in a release here.
Referring to the speech by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the Delhi budget, Nath said he had also made an announcement that toilets would be provided in slums and JJ clusters.
"The board has taken over community toilets from municipal corporations and is in the process of upgrading them. There are a large number of slums where there are no toilets," he said, adding that the board plans to spend about Rs 42 crore this year on building new toilets and improving existing ones.
