DUSIB to sell unused land to fund slum-free city project

In order to fund its slum-free city project, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has planned to sell-off those land lying unused for several years in the capital.
There are over 1,000 plots of land of DUSIB which cannot be used for commercial purpose, a senior government official said.
The DUSIB, which works under the Delhi Government, has earmarked around 75 plots which can be sold to fund the project, the official said.
"In view of this, the board has planned to sell these plots of land to fund the slum-free project. After getting approval from Delhi government, we will start work on selling these plots," an official said.
The money collected through sale of land will be used for public welfare schemes including construction of flats for jhuggi dwellers in the national capital, the official said, adding the DUSIB expects to collect around Rs 400 crore from the sale of lands.
