A delegation comprising office bearers of DUTA met the President and complained to him about an "administrative vacuum" under an "autocratic" Vice Chancellor and sought his intervention, a DUTA statement said.
The teachers said they had apprised the President of their discontent with the prevailing scheme of things and concerns about the future of the prestigious institution.
The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has been on a collision course with Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh ever since he assumed charge of the University and have been protesting against a series of decisions taken by him, including the introduction of the Cluster Innovation Center, and a course in B Tech in Innovation programme.
The teachers body alleges that the Vice Chancellor has refused to engage the teachers community while initiating "radical" steps that will not augur well for the future of the institution.
A statement from DUTA said that the Vice Chancellor has "misused" his Emergency Powers to bring in courses and start new Centers and the lapses on his part include "the manner in which he has forced the AC to pass plagiarised courses under the B Tech in Innovation programme".
"If allowed to carry on functioning in the present manner, he will push the University towards a catastrophe," it claimed.
They also expressed dismay over the absence of any dialogue between the democratic organs of the varsity and the the administration.
