"A meeting will soon be held to draw up an action plan with a target to prevent floods downstream," DVC Chairman Rabindra Nath Sen said here today after a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Sen said the DVC planned to set up a new dam at Belpahari and another at Panchet to increase storage capacity and minimise release of water, which would help prevent floods and boost irrigation.
The state government had earlier urged DVC authorities to release water in consultation with it to allow sufficient time to relocate people.
