A 38-year old dwarf man underwent a 'rare' surgery to correct a complex ligamental fracture of humerus, the largest bone in the arm, at a city hospital.
The three-and-half feet tall J Rathnakumar of Pollachi underwent Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis surgery for correcting the fracture recently and was back to his regular activites, a hospital release said today.
Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon of Sree Abirami Hospital Dr P Balamurugan, who performed the hour-long surgery, said the use of the minimally invasive method helped avoid large incision and reduced the surgery time by at least one hour.
The patient recovered fast and started doing his regular activities independently, he added.
